Hotel Britania is a pure Boutique Art Deco hotel in the historic center of Lisbon. Dating from the 1940’s and designed by the famous Portuguese modernist architect Cassiano Branco, the Hotel Britania is the only hotel of that period to have survived intact. Classified as an historic building, this small and unique hotel is located in a quiet street just off Lisbon‘s main avenue Avenida da Liberdade.

Located in a building designed in the 1940‘s by the famous Portuguese architect, Cassiano Branco, this hotel is unique. Totally restored in its original Art Deco style and ambience, it provides not only genuine period surroundings but also all the comfort and facilities required in the world of today. Hotel Britania is part of a project by Cassiano Branco, the illustrious Portuguese modernist architect, and it’s located on a quiet street, right alongside the exclusive Avenida da Liberdade. It’s the only hotel to remain intact until today, this boutique hotel records the glamour of the 1940’s.
Everything about its design strives to reawaken the spirit of the unit without losing its original soul.
The rooms conserve ample dimensions as well as the cork floor. The warm colours contrast with the elegant lines of the furniture and the luster light fittings. The recovery of the whole building is exemplary as is the case of the paintings in the bar alluding to the Portuguese overseas empire.

The entrance hall gives direct access to the bar with its lively atmosphere humming with conversation in contrast to the quiet relaxing atmosphere of the lounge which invites one just to read, to listen to music or simply to sit and watch the open fire burning in the grate.

The rooms are spacious with beautiful warm-coloured furnishings, classical furniture and exquisite marble period bathrooms restored down to the smallest detail.
The size and atmosphere of this hotel give it the air of an exclusive club in which each guest is a member warmly welcomed on arrival and sadly missed on departure.
